According to the Alzheimer's Association, while the number of Americans aged 100 years and older is estimated at 80,000 in 2010, by 2050 there will be more than half a million Americans aged 100 years and older.

When the first wave of baby boomers reaches 85 in 2031, an estimated 3.5 million people aged 85 and older will have Alzheimer's (Alzheimer's Association).

The number of people aged 65 and older with Alzheimer's disease is estimated to reach 7.7 million in 2030 - more than a 50% increase from the 5.1 million aged 65 and older currently affected (Alzheimer's Association).
